And besides, the people working as GDC's, as stated earlier in the thread,
do receive a form of compensation for their efforts--just not cash money.
As was stated, the use of a league-provided laptop is no small thing. I'm
sure the NFL didn't buy bargain-basement computers from Wal-Mart. Then,
there's sideline access during the games. With many teams, money simply
can't buy even stadium access--for example, the Jets have a *ten-year
waiting list* for season tickets, and singles are *never* available.
How much does a season ticket cost? I'd be willing to bet that there are
preferential parking privileges, too.
Overall, I sure wouldn't feel cheated.
Since, if I understand this, it's individuals who actually provide the
services, I don't see the SBE as subsidizing anything. It sounds like
they simply "coordinate the coordinators", and as such, are providing a
service to members.
Now, if you want to talk about subsidizing the league, I think someone
posted a link the other day to an article about the proposed new stadium
for the Jets in Manhattan. Sounds like there hasn't been a bigger
giveaway there since Peter Stuyvesant...
