[BC] RF absorption by foliage

I can add a little bit but not much--i heard years ago that the Army
experimented with this (using a tree for an antenna) for the advantages of
ease of setup and a tree makes a great camoflauged(sp?) antenna. as far as
i know, it never went anywhere, at least i never heard of it being used when
i was on active duty in the sig. corps. the method i heard about involved
simply driving a spike into the tree and giving it RF.

Was that actually a shunt wire feed or was it a slant wire antenna. There
is a difference.

Would like to see more about this.
