I would think that it would work like a slant wire, with a lossy load at the
end. Depending on how much RF was going thru that end of the wire, I'd expect
there to be a reaction with the wet wood, which would decouple the RF from it,
somewhat. Eventually, the tree would try to heal.
The toroid around the trunk is interesting... drop one over a seedling, and
wait a good long time!
