Automation systems are dependent on proper programming (configuration),
receipt of satellite receiver closures, proper timing of elements (spots)
and proper operation of the hardware. This applies to all systems,
regardless of market size or ranking.
Some common problems are: spots longer than 60:00 so the elements of
a break exceed the allotted time of the break. Contact bounce on
relays in a satellite receiver. Network sending too many or too few
closures or closures at wrong times. Improper encoding of EOM
and aux marks on cuts. Inefficient coding of the congiguration files,
like loading a stopset too early or too late.
The above can wreak havoc with delayed network programs which are
broken into segments. All of the above mentioned from experience.
