[BC] Audio editing software for Linux

Braintrust,

CoolEdit 2000 has served us well, but now it's time to move on.  We're 
toying with Adobe Audition as a low-cost but feature-rich option.

I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with something 
available on the Linux platform that would be along the lines of a 
CoolEdit type package.  Perhaps something open-source?
