City Island is the longish one where people live and have
boat slips. The much smaller island next to the northern
tip of City Island is called High Island, and this is where
the 660 and 880 stations share a single tower, which I
believe is 500 foot height, containing a resonating gap.
The two are connected by a footbridge, or, were, when I was
following it.
I seem to recall the 660 was working out of Port Washington,
L.I. on the north shore, back then before they joined forces.
It is always interesting to speculate whether a 50 kw could
even get the land they need to relocate nowadays, without
winding up in the desert or somesuch.
