I've seen a couple fuses go out after time, when the fuse assembly became
hot as a result of resistance where the wires were attached. The heat
softens the fuse element as much as high current will. Once a year it's a
good idea to kill master power and tighten up all those big hex screws. I
also periodically examine them with an infra read thermometer. That will
tell you if a fuse or Circuit breaker is running hot, and may also be
accurate enough to pinpoint hot connections.
