As AOL's on hold voice, we paid rights for years until we merged with Time
Warner. Then, we asked for and received a waiver for all Warner artists, and
began doing promos for their new albums. I recorded announcements with
LeeAnn Rimes and dozens of other Warner acts.

But we asked first, even though we are all family. That's the law.

Any business can ask for a waiver. If the label or artist's rep doesn't see
an upside to the promotion, it's doubtful you'll get it, but you can ask.
