Tom,

Panasonic is a good brand.

I can't say the Brother 7420 is the best for its size/price.  There 
are several newer models ... I saw some at CES. And I am not 100% 
happy with the software provided.

However, a quick check on pricegrabber shows the 7420 at delivered at 
about $281 with a $50 rebate.

If you have one of those coupons from Office Max, etc, you might even 
do better.
