 Mine must have been a later mode. It had another U shaped piece that 
 formed the bottom and sides. No matter which it was, the chassis was 
 potentially at 120v in the days before polarized plugs. I finally 
 bought a cheap voltmeter to check before I connected anything else to it. >>

We had an unused TV booster with an isolation transformer.  Plugging the 
KnightKit Wireless broadcaster into the booster minimized shock and hum.

This geek also had a train set.  One year Plasticville had a radio station 
complete with transmitter tower built from an Erector set.  Didn't transmit too 
well when the trains were powered up.
