Something occurs to me as I read this thread. In common
with a thread on health insurance on AF, one of the
biggest issues is the *layers* of salesmen, lawyers and
bureaucrats that cover any and all transfers of money.

I thought when the FCC again permitted companies to
run vertical intergration (program production to transmission)
we'd see some efficiencies and lowered costs. However,
it seems that even "basic" cable is now pushing $30 a
year in some places.... just to augment the over the air
stations. $100 cable bills (not including cable modems)
         are not unusual.

In fact, one family I know spends between cell phones,
cable and Internet, well over $500 a month - before
they get to food and mortgage.

... but as we sit, lawyers are seeking new ways to
monetize more aspects of the industry.
