Bob,

That is a smart move, the last thing any agency of the government wants is a Congressional inquiry.  They have to do to much explaining.  Don't go the lawyer route quite yet.  Wait for the outcome of the Congressional.  The FCC people hated it when the GAO used to come by for 'visits'.  If he sends you another email, tell him that you have requested your Congressman to determine the validity of his claim and his attitude towards you.

But look at the email the guy sent you and see if you can look at the message header and determine that it actually came from an FCC website.

Usually, it is true that FCC radio inspectors do not work along as Douglas stated.  Sometimes they might if you live close to this guy and he has a wild hair. The FCC does not have authority to confiscate equipment, but Marshalls do only when a court order is provided.

I have contacted my elected representatives for this district and explained 
to them what happened and whats been going on. I've been trying to hunt down 
a lawyer that will do pro bono work. might as well see what comes back from 
my congressman first.
