Someone is phishing.

The FCC doesn't deal in that manner as a far as I am aware. A call to the
Enforcement Bureau is necessary to find out if this guy is an employee of
the FCC and/or a field enforcement engineer/officer. I'm sure they would
be really interested in hearing they have an imposter out there...which is
a federal felony offense.

Don't send him anything by e-mail other than a note telling him to send
this same request on official FCC stationary to your mailing address of
record and you or your counsel will reply appropriately.

In fact, if he were to come to my door, he would need to show me a valid
federal government ID AND a badge from the FCC as a field enforcement
officer before I would even talk with him about anything related to
compliance matters or get past the front door. A business card would not be
sufficient and he would be told to come back with a badge and official
government credentials. In the mean time, I'd be on the phone to
Washington to the EB.

Field enforcement engineers often will show up alone for general
inspections during the day. BUT, in cases where a noted violation might be
evident or there are unknown conditions, I find it very off that only one
showed up and didn't leave anything indicating the FCC was there. And even
more telling is the FCC won't show up any odd hours unless there is a
clear, present, and immediate danger to public safety
communications. After that...it's all done 9-5.

2nd, the FCC can not confiscate any equipment. That is the jurisdiction of
the Federal Marshall and is only done under court order. Something about
the 4th Amendment....

Nope...this guys smells funny.
