[BC] STL Options

I would think you could do discrete analog if your line of site is really
OK. However, with HD-Radio in just about everybody's future you've got to be
thinking ahead a bit more than just defaulting to analog.
Were I doing this today I'd probably lean toward Moseley Starlinks, even
though it's a long ways.
I've got a 26-mile system running on 6-ft Mark dishes using Starlinks right
now, and while it works pretty well it's not perfect. I've only got about
15db of fade margin, which isn't always enough. This is *not* a full-time
STL link, but one we use for program transport between two stations on a
limited basis. It's never been down when we've needed it--the downtimes
usually happens in the wee hours of the morning from just before sunrise to
just after, and it's intermittent rather than just wiping out completely.
Not quite sure why on the timing issue, but it's pretty consistently in that
time frame, perhaps once or twice every 3 months (way too often for a
full-time STL).
Were I going to do this for a full-time STL, I'd definitely go for either
diversity receive, the Moseley-approved 10-watt amp on the transmit end, or
both.
