[BC] Part 15 Comunity Radio over 802.11a/b/g, anyone ever consider this????

Well I found out that 100mw produces more than the allowed 250uV/m @ 3m for 
p15fm.

If you have LOS you may want to try to use two High Gain Directional 
antenna's on 2.4GHz 802.11b.

If purchased on ebay and you look around and wait for deals you can put a 
quality link together for less than $1000.00

the basic rule for wifi is your allowed up to 1w using a 6dbi omni for every 
1db over 6 you lower your power by a 1db.

if using directional beam antenna it's 1w into 6dbi and for every 3db over 6 
you reduce power by 1db

this is your best cost effective bet. you can use shoutcast @128k stereo to 
stream from a laptop over wifi to studios.

if you have LOS and it's only a 1/4 mile you should have no problem with 
this kind of setup.

Don't forget to check your fresnel zone.

  I'm in need of a Part 15 (LEGAL) 100 mill. Watt FM transmitter for a
project needed for a weekend remote situation for sending a signal back
to WMRO, from a local restaurant, that is less than 1/4 mile away. Any

it's possible to use WiFi gear to successfully serve a small town.
802.11a/b/g is allowed 4 watt ERP at up to 108Mbps per a AP. 120 deg
Sector
panels, BDA's, and other High quality components are available on ebay.
You
could easily set up a scalable mesh network and simulcast over a AM1k
rangemaster AM Tx at each node. with the availablity of WiFi Boomboxes
and
Walkmans, I feel the future is streaming stations over Broadband
Wireless,
especially in small cities and towns. Just think multiple stations could

pool their resources and set up a Community Wireless System and
Broadcast.
the possibilities are endless.
