Maybe I got lucky during my brief detour out of radio and into TV a few 
years back. Most of the newspeople I worked with, first as an assignment 
editor and later in the field as a reporter, were fairly bright folks 
who treated other staffers with respect and intelligence.

OK...there *was* that one day when a very puzzled crew sent out to get 
the usual Jewish High Holidays VO material found it had been sent (by a 
well-meaning but rather clueless assignment editor) to the local Jews 
for Jesus gathering.

But that was the exception, not the rule. I guess I was fortunate (and 
even more so to get out with all my limbs intact and get back to radio, 
where - as anyone who ever saw one of my stand-ups can testify - is 
where I belong!)
