Not to *this* ham... but I would tend to think that most of the ones who are 
smart enough to build their own transmitters, are smart enough to know the 
difference. Many of the guys I listen to and talk with on AM are very smart. Some 
are also B'casters and/or are former (retired) & current B'cast engineers.

With some clever tricks & tweaks, it *is* possible to achieve 
"supermodulation" where the carrier power swings upwards with audio. That's where the 200% 
postive figure comes in.
