When you consider that most of them are using 1 kW BC Tx's at
about 700 - 750 W output, they have modulator capacity to spare.
Consider the possibilities with a Collins 20V2, for example,
or an RCA BTA-1M or 1R. I've heard some have even discovered 
the joys of modern audio processing.
