[BC] Saving history

I am, alas, in the "save everything" category. That trait is the bane of my
existence, but I can't break myself of the habit. When my late wife was
alive, bless her, she took care of the problem. She used to sneak stuff into
the trash--taking great pains to make sure that everything looked pretty
much as it had before her cleanups. In 70+ years of being a packrat, I have
leaned this, however: If you save everything (as I continue to do despite my
understanding of the futility of saving everything), you can never find
ANYTHING when you decide you want it. So saving everything is just like
throwing everything out--except you have much less space to turn around in.
Sigh!
