[BC] Saving NY history

I do - Bill O'Shaughnessy at WRTN/WVOX, who was the driving force behind
the book, sent me a copy a few weeks ago. I've glanced through it but
haven't given it a comprehensive reading yet.

It's less a history of NYS broadcasting in general than a history of the
NYSBA, so it doesn't cover anything earlier than 1955.

It's a nicely-done 242-page hardcover. "Serving Their Communities: 50
Years of the New York State Broadcasters Association," by Stephen
Warley, published by NYSBA and distributed by Fordham U. Press. Cover
price is $29.95. ISBN is 0-9776-117-0-1. Should be available through
Powells or Amazon or wherever, or from NYSBA at nysbroadcastersassn.org.

Another history of NYS broadcasting that I read recently is a short
piece in the recently-published "Encyclopedia of New York State," from
Syracuse U. Press. I forget who wrote the piece, but it was quite well
done for the relatively small space it was given. (The book itself is
enormous.)

I'm still plugging away on my history of NY City FM, the eventual sequel
to the Kanze/Jaker/Sulek "Airwaves of New York" that chronicled New York
City's AM history. Hoping for a 2008 publication date at this point...
