The HTML view in the WM player is only affected while the WOLF session
is active, it goes away as soon as you select a different source,
presumably one that doesn't also push HTML views. It doesn't change any
configurations or settings and it's not permanent.

This is very common practice for many WM streamers. It allows display
of title/artist, 'buy now' links, and other information listeners clamor
for as well as banner and button ads to help defray costs, within the
player itself where it's immediately available to the listener.
I think a judgment that 'there's no excuse for that' is unreasonable.
But that's just my opinion, suitable for framing or wrapping fish.

He also provides an optional shortcut download to launch a direct
embedded player which doesn't use the HTML view of the WM player at all,
so that might be less offensive.

FWIW, we've been doing a similar thing at BoomerRadio.com for even
longer and we've never once received a complaint about the HTML view in
the player. By far the biggest deal with listeners is title and artist
info, and 'how can I buy this song'?

I certainly agree there should always be some means for listener
feedback, even if most of it may end up in the trash.
