About a month ago I had lunch with Bob and Ron Gregory and a few other=20
radio orphans. We had a great time talking about some of the old WOWO=20
and other Fort Wayne radio people. Bob even recalled some of my market=20
exploits. We all competed like crazy, but we all seemed to get along=20
quite well back then. Bob looks good, and the voice is still strong and=20
smooth. Speaking of smooth, we also with sadness recalled the passing of =
Jack Underwood and Gary Noe. Nice folks who elevated our craft to an =
art.=20
Doug,
I'm envious! Btw...who were the other "orphans"? Years ago I played in a =
big
band with Ron (The Stardust Dance Band). He on drums, me, lead trombone. =
Ron
Gregory is one of the truly great guys still in radio. I listen to him =
on
WLZQ (streaming) just to get a taste of home. Next time you see Ron, =
tell
him Mark & Star said hi!
Didn't know Jack Underwood well, but Gary Noe was a helluva guy too. =
Used to
sit around and talk Indy cars with him.
