I started listening to the Houston Colt 45's (which became the Astros) on
KWKH from the Rio Grande Valley when I was just a pup. Great programming,
including Louisiana Hayride. Superb overnight truckers show in the 70's
from Kelly's (mile marker 6) w/ John Trimble (now at WRVA?). I tried to
listen a year or so ago and it was just one ad after another. Really sad.
CC also took KONO AM/FM combo in the Austin/San Antonio area (oldies format)
and "tweaked" it so that it is now just run of the mill.
I'm not really knocking CC, but their programming decisions don't make sense
to me. But then I'm just an engineer who happens to listen (and not liking
what I hear).
In all fairness, my own station has "tweaked' the format, and become more
like everyone else instead of a truly unique entity.

The reason I listen still comes down to content. Don't the programming
decision makers get it? Or is it just because this is an engineering
listserve that we don't see what programmers are talking about.
HEY PROGRAMMERS---IT ISNT'T THE DELIVERY METHOD, ITS THE CONTENT!!!!
<end Rant mode>
