I had something similiar happen to me in East Texas. The wanted the  $1500.00 
trade in the old transmitter.  A new transmitter wouldn't be any  porblems, 
plus the RF switch back then cost $300.00.   The new  transmitter had a few 
problems in the first 5 months.
 
Penny wise and pound foolish.
