A couple of years ago, our chief decided to do some housecleaning. He
offered me a box of miscellaneous manuals and odds and ends. Aside from
a couple of hard-core (and I mean HARD-CORE!) porno magazines that someone
had stuck in the box (the storage space was in the basement behind the
building air handlers) was something of a mother lode. In a beat-up
binder were copies of the IRE Transactions on Broadcasting from most of
the 50's. In one issue was a description of CBS' "new" videotape facility
in Grand Central Terminal. Two of my favorite things--broadcasting and
railroads--together in one article... There was also an article about
NBC's VTR facility in Burbank.
The other issues were equally interesting, and the binder now has a warm,
comfy spot in my den...
(BTW, the hard-core rags made a quick trip to the company dumpster...)
