[BC] End of an Era...

My station doesn't have a "news staff" working out of the building. I
have my local news contracted out to a company called Metro Networks,
owned by Westwood One. They get our local paper there each day, make a
few calls and do my newscast "live" in AM drive and at 12 noon. All for
barter! You can't be that. We have an ISDN line between us and them.
Having a news staff of just one at a small AM station is costly!

While it is true that most stations don't have a dedicated
news staff anymore, I have always found it humorous
to hear the newspaper rattling as the news was being read
on a local outlet.....

The advent of trunking communications, or even digital should
have very little impact on tracking their communications -
trunking scanners have been out for 6-7 years now, and digital
scanners for a few years now.
