Good Day Everyone,

Never heard of SIRA?

http://www.copyright.gov/docs/regstat051606.html

How many hard drives hold copies of music at your station? How do you
distribute the music around the studio? How do you forwarded and broadcast music over
the air?

As I understand it, SIRA fundamentally redefines copyright and fair use in
the digital world. It would require all incidental copies of music to be
licensed separately from the originating copy. Even copies of songs that are cached
in your computer's memory or buffered over a network would need yet another
license.

This would fundamentally change the way we license, distribute and air music.
Each incidental copy of music maintained by the station would require
separate licensing.

It appears that Congressman Berman (D) 28th District of the State of CA is
responsible for this bill.

Is this very Good or very Bad for us Broadcasters?
(End Quote)

I would say it's not too good.

Thoughts?

Willie...
