Yes they did, with only minor damage.

Clyde Scott, Charlie Wooten and I went to the site and observed the 
attempt to drop the damaged tower. 

Everything looked good, but you could see the guys wires that had been 
cut flying around and wrapping around the WALB guy wires.

The fields around the tower were packed with people there to see the 
event, probably 100 or so people, almost all working in the broadcast 
industry.
