Dennis,
I bet your glad that your old boxes have a new life at a new home,
and you have a nice, clean, up to date, tx room!

Had one here when I bought the station. It was old, used and abused, but
on
the air. Was absolutely filthy inside, and it looked like every engineer
who
ever opened the back door had been required to kludge together another
set
of "extra wires to nowhere" to add to the mess. It ran for about two
months
& went belly up... I was never able to voodoo it back, so the ol' RCA
went
back on as the main.

I sold the Bauer to a ham for $75, you-haul-it-outta-here. He re-wired,
re-painted, re-tuned and restored it. He's very proud of it... brought
pic's
by a couple of weeks ago, and it sure looks nice. He'll get my RCA this
summer.

I never noticed anything special about the sound of the Bauer, but mine
was
probably not the one to make that judgement by. I did have several
engineers
say that they were very simple boxes, simple design & easy to work on.
They
ran 4 x 4-400's, which is why the previous owners here bought it... same
tubes as the RCA. Think I read something the other day.. was it on this
list? ... that said the US military used them in Viet Nam...
