I went to Kershaw and fixed this xmtr ~18-20 years ago during Jess'
declining years. I don't recall much about his studio except that it had a
Gates Studioette and was in a Jim Walter type building in the side yard of
his home. (Jess wouldn't allow disc jockeys to cue records, I was told.)
I had first met him in the early 60s when I rented a room from his mother
near USC (no, not the one in CA). It was wonderful to wake up to the sound
of her playing classical and romantic music on her 1912 Steinway grand (a
wedding gift from her husband.)
