[BC] Charter "Huge Savings" on VOIP

I just received an email from my revered cable company - Charter 
Communications. The subject is "Add Charter Telephone to Your Account 
- Enjoy HUGE Savings!"

While we've been discussing rates as low as $8 a month and I'm paying 
$24.99 for Vonage, my "huge savings" from Charter is $39.99. While 
most VOIP services include some overseas free long distance, this one 
doesn't even include Alaska and Hawaii.

I can't wait the enjoy the huge savings $5 a gallon gasoline will bring me.

I wonder if they'll attempt to block competing services.
