 From Inside Radio:

Would the FCC really drop the public file rule? It?s looking for comments
in a new Public Notice.
That would be a huge relief to operators who fear sizable fines because of
missing documents in the public
inspection file. Inside Radio told you January 6 that communications
attorney David Tillotson had filed a petition
asking the FCC to abolish the longstanding rules for radio and TV. Now
Peter Tannenwald and Dick Swift at
Irwin Campbell & Tannenwald circulate a note alerting us to the fact that
the FCC?s actually going to entertain
proposals. Tannenwald and Swift say the public file rule is ?burdensome?,
that the FCC ?levies heavy fines for
even minor omissions from a file that no one ever looks at? and that many
of the documents are already available
on the FCC website. Comments are due soon ? next Monday, June 19. The
proceeding is RM-11332.
