[BC] Public File proceeding

I agree with Larry. Why are we bothering, spending time in the office
doing useless paperwork that's not serving the public. YOU are the radio
station when you are in the public, serving the public! Some people just
want to set on their ass in the office all day long and use the PF just
to whine about something that has to be done so they can get a paycheck.
JOB SECURITY! AND A WASTE OF MONEY!
I think posting what public service the station does on the web is
great, and is great PR for the station too, not some form of paper that
sits in a filing cabinet that nobody sees! The paper work doesn't serve
the public, going out and doing PR and getting your hands a little dirty
is public service!

> The public file is the last outpost of accountability.

Actually, it's an exercise in paperwork. It serves no useful purpose.

> I have to laugh at the comments filed on behalf of Montclair
Communications. Poor slob spent 20 hours LAST YEAR on maintaining the
public file. Someone else spends an hour a week. The grand total. 70
hours
PER YEAR.

That's time that could be better spent doing something that actually
served
the public, rather than preparing paperwork that nobody ever sees.

> The lack of accountability is one of the reasons broadcasting finds
itself
in the state it's in today. A hands off, lazy approach to everything
has
allowed it to fall, like a house, into a state of disrepair.

Then make stations accountable for things that matter. The Public File
does not matter.

> I don't care if nobody shows up to see it... IF a broadcaster
maintains an
accurate public file, it shows their fitness as a license holder.

No, it only shows that they spent time doing useless paperwork.

> RUNNING A RADIO STATION IS NOT EASY PEOPLE. Things in life aren't
supposed
to be or it wouldn't be worth it.

No, running a radio station is not easy. Burdening licensees with
useless
paperwork makes it even more difficult.
