I know the class IV (C) that I was a part owner of also used HSFB STA each
Friday nite. Actually, the timer stuck on 1kw for some reason and only went
back to 250 watts after the game was over. Good thing they changed the
rules back in 83, so I never did fix that faulty timer....you just cant
trust electromechanical devices these days.

Hey Dave,

We had the same deal here, where WHIN and WMRO were carrying the
same high school football game, Gallatin Senior High. WHIN has been
broadcasting Gallatin High School Football since about 1950 when it
signed on. At the time I bought WMRO, there was only one high school in
Gallatin. In 2001, a second high school opened up in Gallatin, called
Old Station Camp High School.
This year, I called my cousin, Jack Williams, who owns WHIN and with
the idea that we would carry the Station Camp High games and he would
continue to carry Gallatin Senior High Games. Jack thought that was a
fantastic idea and we are putting it into effect this year! I graduated
from Gallatin High School in 81, and I hated to give up doing Gallatin
Greenwave H.S. Football, but I know our community is growing, we had to
have another high school built to accommodate the community, plus my
niece is a cheerleader at Station Camp High.
.....This to all the gentlemen on this list is "Community Service"
when carrying High School Football. The community seems to think it is,
if you agree or not!
WHIN is 5 KW daytime and 47 watts at night. WMRO has 1 KW daytime
and 3 watts at night. On Friday nights during high school football, both
stations operate their PSSA power until the games are over.
I salute all AM daytimers that carry High School Football in the
fall of the year. It is COMMUNITY SERIVCE! It may mean running higher
power during the games, so that parents, kids, and community supporters
can hear the games, but on the other hand, I hear it's also a DX'ers
delight when H.S. Football season is going on. They get to log stations
they may not have ever received before! It's a win/win for everybody!
"SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL, QUARTERBACK CLUBS, ETC, AND HELP
KEEP OUR KIDS OUT OF TROUBLE" That's community service, and my message
is directed to you on this list that don't have children!

Scott
