[BC] Bell Labs building to be demolished

Of course it does!
The FACT that Bell Labs no longer exists is systemic of the attitudes
prevalent in the country regarding research.

The bean counters want NO PART of research!! Why? They see NO BENEFIT to it.
They see it as a COST CENTER!

In other words, it is don't help next quarter's "guidance". then we don't NEED
IT!!

The United States is fast becoming a follower! We no longer are a research
leader (except perhaps in drugs, though based on all the drugs lately pulled
from the maarket lately, we seem to be cutting corners in THAT research as
well).

Rich, you are taking this out of context.

My comments about it being only walls and floors
was directed towards the following statement that
I quoted.

****begin quote****

This is just another example of how the USA is becoming a third world
country
intellectually and technologically.

Profit$ over research every time!

How sad....

****end quote****

When looked at that quote, the fact that the building is going to be
torn down has nothing to do with the USA becoming a "third world
country intellectually and technologically."

That is the point that I am stating is incorrect, and that the building
has nothing to do with that.

I believe in renovating older buildings for further use - and my business
plan
shows that. I have a number of former AT&T buildings (among others )
from 112 square feet to 45K square feet, and my prime objective is to
renovate those to other purposes.
