Are you saying we should preserve every white elephant building just
because it's old ("historic") and/or something happened there once?  Maybe
we should make the entire country one big "historic" district so some
self-appointed committee on esthetics can tell us all what color we can
paint our houses and make us jump thru hoops every time we want to build a
tool shed or a doghouse.
