I always believed a format change for WCRB was inevitable. When I
lived there there were so many classical outlets (non-commercial)
that it didn't stand a chance even though it's ratings were quite
good. First, the AM was sold, now the FM. I should add from a
previous post that the ratings for KFSD, San Diego, were among the
highest Classical ratings in the country at the time. I remember the
little house of KFSD as I drove by on my way to work at XTRA when
they were downtown.
With the IBUZ revolution in full swing and the market now saturated
with receivers, WCRB's Classical music will make a smooth transition
on a secondary. Not a listener will be lost.
