plus my next-door neighbor was the 'old-guy troubleshooter' for the local
GTE office

I'd call the C.O. supervisor and ask him to send Frank out

C.O. usually had any problem fixed by the time he got there, but he was good
insurance if it was an outside problem

now we have Verizon (company motto: 'If you thought GTE's service sucked,
wait till you see ours!')
