Central PA television lost another great talent this week. Jerry Trently, Director of Photography at WHP-TV lost a year old battle
with cancer. He leaves his wife and nearly 10 year old son.
 
Jerry started his TV career at WLYH-TV as a reporter in 1984. He moved to WHP-TV where his love of photography grew. Over
the past 21 years, he has held the positions of Director of Photography and News Director. His awards were numerous and he
would often spend weekends working on his special projects. He always wanted the best out of his photographers and went to
bat for them whenever possible. He allowed the photographers to produce their own half hour specials and photo vignettes 
frequently filled time after sporting events. Even as News Director, he would find time to shoot specials in his spare time.

Last month at the Mid-Atlantic Emmy awards, there was the creation of the Jerry Trently Award to honor his excellent work. 
This award will be presented to a Pennsylvania high school to be used in their television program.

Jerry's work was known coast to coast. Here is just a small sample of his work.
