[BC] Early mobile phones

I got in on the last of the tube mobiles (but had tons of C53GGB3100 bases), Motracs were
still in use for Law Enforcement (remember the 'stretch to eternity' dual-front end
low-banders?) loved Mocom 70's, ambivalent toward Maxars, hated Micors and their crappy
internal connectors (but became a regional expert on the Mobile Repeater EMS stuff and a
whiz at spreading out 'the bedsheet' and figuring out Sys-90 configurations), left as the
Mitrek and the beginnings of synthesized units came on-line

later sold Standard, always thought they had an excellent product, especially the
steel-bodied 25 watt under-dash units and their portables which were better than MT-500's

never had much to do with the MX-3XX line, some say they were OK, some hated them

I installed a TON of Motorola in late 78-thru 79, as the Law Enforcement Assistance
Administration literally threw gobs of money at local Sheriff's Depts and we installed
low-band 330-watt bases and new Micors with VHF vehicular repeaters in Green, Jersey,
Calhoun, Macoupin, Montgomery counties in IL, plus City of Jacksonville and Morgan
County..........J-ville (UHF) and Morgan (VHF) used Sprectra-Tac voting systems and
exclusively portables..no mobiles.all MT-500's, dual repeaters, back-up power, the whole 9
yards
