All the W calls in the Pacific have disappeared, except for WVUV in American
Samoa. The Ws in FSM went away when FSM gained independence. I'm told that
all of the Pacific W calls dated from WWII when all were originally military
stations. WVUV was privatized in the early 70s and allowed to retain the W
call sign. Everything else in the Pacific (US) is a K.

There was also WSZE-TV in Saipan (NMI), but it's been dead for years.

BTW, the WVUV calls are also on WVUV-LP and there's soon to be a WVUV-FM.
