Surely not *everyone* is watching with a home theatre setup, but a large
percentage I'm sure are. There was a survey done when HD was still in it's
infancy that said sports fans were one of the largest consumers of HD sets.
At the time HD sets were merely "monitors" and you had to have an
external receiver and speakers if you wanted sound to accompany your HD
pictures.
A more recent survey conducted by Motorola found that 45% of people would
actually watch sports at home, in HDTV, then attend the same pro or college
event in person. Among the people I know, Superbowl parties are usually held
at whoever's location has the biggest/best TV setup; usually which include a
home theatre receiver with surround decoder.
