I've heard it said that there's nothing that will stop a slander/libel
charge faster than the TRUTH.
If such a list of deadbeat employers was put together, I think all you would
have to do is post accurate, FACTUAL information about the employer.
Documentation required. No hearsay, no conjecture. Copies of invoices,
statements, checks required. Phone records if available. And followup: If
the employer starts to make good, THAT should be documented too. And
speaking of that, there could ALSO be a list of GOOD employers: Those that
pay promptly, have safe and proper working conditions, etc.
There could ALSO be a listing of how well they follow or DON'T follow the
FCC Rules. I've gone to places in the past that actually made me nervous,
seeing the FCC violations. Everything from no EAS, no licenses posted, all
the way to no tower fence and even no tower LIGHTS. But I'm not talking
about diving into minutiae, rather things that could pose health and safety
hazards.
This would probably be a job for some company or business to run. I don't
think it could be ad hoc. If all the above conditions were met, why would
this be much different from a credit rating service?
I think it would be good if such as service was started. How many of us may
find ourselves on the street, and needing contract work? I wouldn't want to
get stiffed by half the people I do business with.
