I remember having something like this happen! Way back when, I was
board-opping in WFIF's all-analog days. There was supposed to be a show coming down from
Satellite that we had been airing for some time. At the proper time, I open
the pot... and heard silence.
I quickly grabbed the "Emergency music" cart, and started it... potting it up
softly in the background... slowly potting it up further, as the seconds
ticked by. Nothing. No audio.
I dropped the sat pot into cue, and potted the cart to full. Still nothing. I
flipped channels... everything was fine, just that one show was AWOL. So, i
started pulling CD's, and finally began spinning those, and hosted a nice hour
of music. The show never came through.
Come to find out the following week, the program provider simply "cancelled"
due to lack of support. No notice to anyone... he just never showed up, so a
whole network of affiliates was left with an hour of dead air to fill. Nice.
Willie...
