Does anyone have any suggestions on how to refinish the
surface of some Sennheiser (and other) mics that we use on
remotes? The black finish wears off badly looking horrible. We have

the Shure, but our folks like the sound and feel of these
Sennheisers. Is it a simple matter of repainting, and if so, what
kind of paint/preparation would you suggest. I can't see just
discarding a $200-$300 mic just for it's looks when it still sound great.

I don't know for sure. Does Sennheiser repair mics? Or you could try

and see if that is something he might do. He normally specializes in
refurbishing old RCA ribbon mics and building his own replicas.

Or, mask off the grille and have at it with a can of matte black
spray paint. That probably would be far cheaper.
