I won a $ 20 bet with a guy about the amount of radiation from a
neighboring cell tower that was going to fry his brain. I asked him how
far away was the cell tower, it was 1 mile. I then pointed out that his
cell phone put out 700 milliwatts at full power. I told him that the
cell people control that power to keep it as low as possible. I then
asked him to pick a power level that he thought would be normal. He
picked 100 milliwatts. I then asked when he holds his cell phone to his
head, how far away is the cell phone from his brain. He said 1 inch. I
then asked him how long per day he was on the cell phone per day, and he
said 45 minutes. He accepted from me that the cell site put out about
100 watts transmitter power, and used a 6 db gain antenna system, for
400 watts erp. He said was as much as a small microwave oven.
Now the fun begins. I used a white board and did the inverse square
law. 100 mw at 1" is 400 mw at 2". 1.6 watts at 4", and so forth. I
started the math and made him finish. It comes to something like 100
megawatts at 5,000 feet, meaning his cell phone was nailing him at a
rate of a billion to 1. He got so angry he walked away and I did not
collect the $ 20.

Keep in mind that this could not work with Congress, as they get to
ignore the law of physics.
