[BC] Extending tower light bulbs

Have you changed out the sockets?  I have seen more than a few cases  
where the sockets go bad and the bulb fails.  Frequently, you see that  
maybe the solder on the center pin on the bulb may have melted.

In a few cases, I always had the top inverted bulb go bad, over and  
over, or the bottom, upright bulb go bad first.  Because of the  
construction of bulbs, the inverted ones will generally fail first.   
This is normal.

Change out the sockets and see what happens.
