[BC] Natural Tower

My comments about wooden towers were made "tongue-in-cheek", sort of...
In past, wooden infrastructure suspended transmitting antennas. Probably in
today's world, even the erection of such would probably require permits. Ask
any ham operator. With the banning of incandescent bulbs, the expression,
"you can't screw in a light bulb without a permit" is more fact than a
cliché. Yet people will look for ways around it. Calling a tower a "vertical
trestle" might invoke more palatable rules. In a country where importation
of incandescent bulbs is illegal, one company got around the import laws by
calling them "heat globes". Apparently they are doing well. Often
"environmental protection" is simply a money-grab. A few years ago I was
building a station in Toronto, Ontario (AKA "The Big Smoke"). Installation
of a diesel genset called for an "environmental assessment" incl. emission,
noise, etc. One "consultant" came, looked and said, "Oh, this is downtown
Toronto, its smoky here... $1000.00 please." Another consultant came, looked
and said, "Oh, this is downtown Toronto, its noisy here...$1000.00 please."
The cars they drove made more noise and pollution than our generator would
in a decade. (Aside from exercising, the genset got 20 min. on-line
operation in seven years.)The whole project was a series of "consultants"
who were each paid a stipend and went their merry way. But Toronto is a
better place today due to our contribution...-I think.

It doesn't make any difference what your tower is made of, you still need
permits to build it, anything actually.
