It truly annoys me when people complain about the prices of Apple
computers. They really are not more expensive than a Windoz PC with
the same quality build.

Take the specifications of a Macbook Pro, then find a Windoz PC with
the same screen resolution, graphics card resolution and speed, same
processors and cache, same hard drive capacity and speed, same RAM and
speed, same buss speeds, same optical drive and so on. Heck, totally
ignore the amazing physical design factors like the thin form factors
and aluminum instead of plastic cases. Now, how differently are they
priced?

Then, take into account your time fighting malware, and just
maintaining the machine. I had to be talked into it, but now I spend
no time with malware issues whatsoever. I spend only minutes a week
doing software updates on our five machines. Life is good. I am so
happy my friend twisted my arm.

I also have a Linux machine which just runs and runs without any adult
supervision. My PBX runs on it so I would be very unhappy if it went
down. I do have a minor complaint with it. When I want to make a
change, like add an extension, I must plug a laptop into the machine.
I cannot make moves and changes on the network, I must plug into the
machine, even though the phones operate on the local network, though
normally only on my PoE switch. The phones will run on my other
switches, but they then need wall warts to power the Cisco phones.

Back to the topic, Macs are not really more expensive when you take
the actual hardware used into consideration.
