[BC] AM on translator becomes new FM station...

Those of you on the list may recall that, back in August or thereabouts, I
had posted about a local AM station which has become a "defacto FM" through
the acquisition of an FM translator. At that point in time, there was some
discussion of their desire to shut-down the AM transmitter due to (there's
no other way to say it) poor maintenance to the facility. They wanted
operate only the FM translator and to program it and present it as an FM
station.

Apparently, it's official: As of this past Monday, we no longer have a combo
of "Oldies 101.5 FM and AM 1240, WJLX!" We now have only "Jasper's NEW FM
station! Oldies 101.5!"

Surely enough, since this past Monday (December 19th, 2011) the AM signal
has been completely silent.

I'm not really able to get details as they see me as "the competition" since
we own and operate the only FM in town (with the exception of their
translator, that is). My info comes second-hand from one of their employees.

This might be worth watching to see what happens. These guys are not really
great on following rules, anyway. I have them set and monitored on our EAS
and, to date, during the past 3 years and 6 months, have not yet received
even so much as an RWT so, this may not so much be a true test of the rules
as just someone showing ignorance. (They also do NOT take "polite guidance"
very well. I've tried.)
